Clark County Judge Buddy Manning opened the Gurdon city council meeting on the Rose Hedge annexation Thursday, at 7:00 p.m.

Gurdon Mayor Rick Smith and councilman, Karen Parker were surprised at the lack of public turnout to hear any objections to the annexation.

Within the area being annexed are eight property owners, all but one of whom had already signed a petition asking to be annexed.

Long time Gurdon resident, Dr. George Peeples voiced his desire to finally be included in the Gurdon city limits. "It bugged me to no end, not being able to vote in city elections," Peeples said.

When Peeples had finished, Manning reported he would be issuing the court order within a few days as soon as he received the final documents from Smith. These documents include the transcribed notes from the meeting.

After the court order has been issued the public has the right to file suit within 30 days of the issuance.

When the 30 days has passed, provided there are no suits, the Clark County Clerk will wait another 30 days then assign voters to wards and inform them of there voting status.

Smith and Parker discussed the possibility the residents may be able to vote in the upcoming special election in August.
