Charles William Smith

Charles William Smith, 72, of Magnolia died Tuesday, April 23, 1996, in the Magnolia hosptial.

Born May 13, 1923, in Nashville, he was the son of Charles William Smith and Della Tinsley Smith. He graduated from Nashville High School in 1942, and served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He owned and operated the Recreation Center for 23 years. After nine years of employment, he retired in 1988 from the U.S. Post Office in Magnolia. He was a member of the Jackson Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Marlene J. Carlson Smith of Magnolia; two sons, Bobby Smith of Prescott and Bo Smith of Russellville; two daughters, Wendy Stinson of Shreveport, La., and Candy Adams of Magnolia; three sisters, Verniese McJunkins of Saratoga, Lillie Jo McJunkins of Saratoga and Frances Boyette of Nashville; and six grandchildren.

Services were held Thursday, April 25, at Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia with Seven Coley officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home of Magnolia. Pallbearers were Danny McJunkins, Tommy McJunkins, Johnny McJunkins, Joe McJunkins, Del Boyette and Rusty Young. Memorials may be made to Jackson Street Church of Christ in Magnolia or the American Cancer Society.
