Wade Earns Academic Scholarship From UCA

Kerri Dianne Wade of Des Arc High School has received an academic scholarship from the University of Central Arkansas beginning in August.

UCA offers academic scholarships, renewable for four years, based on ACT scores and class rank.

Wade, daughter of Mona Shackelford Thompson of Des Arc and the late Charles A. Wade, will receive a university scholarship for tuition and fees. She is the granddaughter of Frances Shackelford of Gurdon and Shirley Scott of Arkadelphia and great granddaughter of Hugh Freeman of Gurdon and Ruby Freeman of Arkadelphia.

She is editor of Eagle Press, a member of Soul Mission, Future Business Leaders of America, Future Homemakers of America, Future Teacher of America, Spanish-Social Studies Club, band, Fire Marshals, Beta Club, Student Council and the Student Development Board of Farmers and Merchants Bank, and is a majorette.

She plans to major in speech-language pathology.
