Conly Is Named Manager of IP

International Paper, Wood Products Divsion, has announced that Henry Conly has been named manager of lumber operations of the eastern region, reporting to Art McGown, vice president/general manager of the Wood Products Division.

Effective immediately, Henry will have operations' responsibliity for the Sampit, S.C., lumber mill and the five recently acquired Federal Paper Board lumber mills.

These include mills at Washington and Augusta, Ga., Johnston and Newberry, S.C., and Armour, N.C.

Conly graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a B.S. degree in accounting. He joined International Paper in 1973 and has been the plant manager at the Gurdon Lumber-Plywood complex since 1990.

His leadership at the Gurdon Complex has resulted in many outstanding accomlishments. Some of these include: the OSHA VPP Star award for safety, awards for environmental management, outstanding cost of quality management, and the Gurdon facility has been positioned as one of the most effective facilities of its kind in the industry.

Conly's very successful background in lumber and panel operations has uniquely prepared him to lead the eastern lumber operations, according to a news release from IP.
