Yates Wins Third At FBLA ConferencePublished Wednesday, July 14, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayunePrescott High School FBLA-PBL member Jarrod Yates took third place in the state annual Business Report event at the 1999 National Leadership Conference (NLC) held in Chicago, Ill., June 9-July 2. The competition was part of a four-day program for FBLA-PBL members from around the country. Those attending the conference from Prescott were Yates, Liz Thompson and adviser Carie Marroon. "We were very proud of our chapter representatives this year at NLC," Maroon said. "We are thrilled that the community could be so well represented by Jarrod Yates, 1998-99 FBLA state president and Liz Thompson, 1999-00 District IV state vice president. The state chapter annual Business Report communicates the state's growth and the methods and projects used in achieving its goals. This event recognizes FBLA state chapters that effectively summarize their year's activities in a business report. Each state and other U.S. affiliates submitted an annual business report for national competition. The top ten reports were recognized with Arkansas receiving third place. Yates and Maroon prepared the report. The state chapter annual Business Report was one of the responsibilities of Yates as state president. For more than 55 years, FBLA-PBL, Inc. has helped high school, middle level, and post secondary students successfully make the school-to-career transition. FBLA-PBL produces results: character and leadership, good citizenship, financial management skills, global marketing knowledge.
