Some Are County ResidentsPublished Wednesday, May 8, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneSouthern Arkansas University business students recently earned 36 state national awards at the 1996 FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda spring leadership conference in Little Rock, including the Collegiate Sweepstakes trophy. Over 30 SAU business students and the chapter advisor, Dr. Terrye Todd from El Dorado, attended the two-day conference. SAU student Wrenette Stocton was named to Who's Who in Arkansas Phi Beta Lambda. Stockton, a senior business administration major from Laneburg, served as executive vice president of SAU's PBL chapter and as Arkansas PBL state reporter in 1995-96. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Stockton.. Traci Hughes, a freshman business administration major at SAU, was named 1996-97 Arkansas Phi Beta Lambda state parliamentarian. The SAU parliamentary procedure team, including Hughes, placed first at the state conference. Hughes was named to the Arkansas team and will represent the state at the 1996 National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hughes of Prescott. In recognition of its outstanding service and active invovlement in state and national projects, Southern Arkansas University Phi Beta Lambda was awarded the Silver Chapter Award of Merit. Phi Beta Lambda is the post-secondary division of Future Business Leaders of America. Membership is open in all students interested in careers in business and business education.
