Sumrall, Russell Plan Wedding On Aug. 7Published Wednesday, July 14, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneSamuel Talmadge Sumrall and Julie Taylor Sumrall of Bay Springs, Miss., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Jean 'Mandy' to Jonathan Dean Russell of Laurel, Miss., son of Billy and Peggy Russell of Bodcaw. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Rowan H. Taylor and Nell Graves Taylor of Jackson, Miss., and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Alfred Sumrqall of Bay Springs, Miss. Mandy is a 1995 graduate of Sylva Bay Academy. She received an associate of arts degree from Jones Junior College in 1997, where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She is attending the University of Southern Mississippi, where she is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Key Honor Society, Student Speech and Hearing Association, and the president's list. She is a member of Delta Gamma sorority. Mandy will receive her bachelor of arts degree in speech and language pathology and audiology in December. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Maxine Brown and the late V.C. 'Red' Brown of Bodcaw, Hazel Russell of Magnolia, and the late Troy Russell. He is a graduate of Nevada High School in Rosston, and he attended Central Baptist College in Conway. Jonathan is currently an honor student at Southeastern Baptist College in Laurel, Miss., where he is majoring in Biblical studies with an emphasis in pastoral studies. He previously pastored at Shover Springs Baptist Church near Hope. Currently, Jonathan is pastor of First Baptist Church in Shady Grove, where he has served as associate pastor for the past two years.
