Leadership Training FinishedPublished Wednesday, May 15, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Arkansas Academy for leadership training and school-based managment announced that Jamye Barnes, Judy McCauley, Janice Horton, Jackie Daniel, Patricia Roberts, Tami Davis and Audra Honea have successfully completed the Academy's strategic leadership institute for teams. They were among 141 Arkansas educators and community leaders selected to participate in the institute held the week of April 21-26 at Fairfield Bay conference center. The week-long institute focused on enhancing participants' leadership skills. Specific topics addressed included plannng for the future in education, understanding and managing change, using action research in schools, asking strategic questions, making site-based decisions and using technology. The Prescott Middle School's strategic leadership team developed a plan to involve staff, students, families and the community as stakeholders in a shared partnership in order to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for school success. The Arkansas Leadership Academy, established by the Arkansas Legislature in 1991 and housed at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, is a partnership consisting of 40 educational and professional organizations, universities and business corporations.
