NHS Graduation Is Friday

A total of 14 seniors at Nevada High Shool will be graduating with honors Friday night, as their prep-school career comes to an end.

Those students who have achieved the highest standards possible include Kelli Brazell, Wes McKamie and James Barnes.

Brazell is the daughter of Sammy and Judy Brazell.

During her career at Nevada High School, Brazell participated in FBLA, Beta Club, and was on the publication staff. She was also a member of the French club and Drug Free team. She will graduate with highest honors.

McKamie is the son of Ruel and Monica McKamie.

While at NHS McKamie was a member of the FBLA, Beta Club, French Club, Drug Team and the band. He was a member of the NHS baseball team, CHAMPS, the Quiz Bowl team and the Gifted and Talented program. He is currently class vice president and the yearbook co-editor. His honors include Who's Who Among American High School Students and was voted most studious and most likely to succeed. He will graduate with highest honors.

Barnes is the son of Larry and Frances Barnes.

During his high school career, Barnes has been a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, Beta Club, Drug Team and French Club. He has been a part of publications and the band at NHS. He also is a member of the baseball team, Quiz Bowl team and the Gifted and Talented program. He is currently the senior class treasurer. He was named to the Who's Who Among American High School Students, 1995-96; a member of the Entrepreneurship team in FBLA state competition, Golden Glove, first chair trumpet and won first place local science fair in 1994. He will also graduate with highest honors.

Shaun McKamie, son of Monty and Cindie McKamie, is the first of three high honors graduates.

McKamie has been a member of FBLA for four years, Beta Club for three years, Gifted and Talented program for two years, Art Club for one year, drug team for three years and Quiz Bowl for one year. He played on the basketball team for two years, was a member of publications for two years and served as co-editor his senior year. He was also a member of the Journalism Club for one year, the French Club for two years and served as teacher's aide for two years. He is senior class president.

He was named to Who's Who Among American High School Students three years; received the Presidential Fitness Award one year, named to the honor roll for four years; received first place in Comp. App. for FBLA in district and state competition and competition in nationals, second place on Entreprenuership team in district and state for FBLA. He will graduate with high honors.

Linda Taylor, daughter of Brenda Taylor, will also graduate with high honors on graduation night.

Taylor has been a member of the Beta Club her junior and senior years; was a member of the junior and senior girls' basketball teams, Drug-Free team, FBLA, French Club, junior and senior girls track team and CHAMPS. She has been an honor student for four years and will graduate with high honors.

Susan Divine, daughter of Richard and Sandra Divine, is also a high honors graduate.

Divine has been very active while at NHS, being a member of the NHS band, Beta Club, FBLA, French Club, Student Council, Mock Trial team, senior girls' basketball manager, Drug-Free team, yearbook staff, newspaper staff, 11th grade Beta vice president, FBLA parliamentarian (12th grade).

She received the World History Award, Senior of Distiction Award and U.S. Achievmenet Academy Award for history and government, and she was named to the honor roll. She will graduate with high honors.

Jonathan Russell, son of Billy and Peggy Russell, is one of eight honor graduates.

Russell is a member of the NHS band, CHAMPS and French Club. He served as baseball manager and statistician, teacher's aide and band president. He received the USAA award in history, word processing award and was named to the honor roll for four years.
