Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellowship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday

evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991.

Mom's In Touch prayer group meets every Tuesday at 9 a.m. at First Baptist Church.

A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be at the Nevada County Courthouse on Thursday, July 22, August 26 and September 23.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind checks. To find out if you are eligible, call 1-800-772-1213.

If your child will have his or her third or fourth birthday before September 15 or will have a fifth birthday after September 15, then you could receive free teaching materials to prepare your child for school. This offer is made through HIPPY.

The time is near to be thinking about entering the Nevada County Fair Queen pageant. The deadline for entry forms is July 30.

Pageant dates and ages are: Tiny Miss 2-3; Little Miss 4-5; Petite Miss 6-7 and Young Miss 8-10, Thursday, September 2.

Saturday, September 4, will include Junior Miss 11-12; Teen Miss 13-15 and Miss 16-21. The pageants wills start at 6 p.m. each night.

If you are interested in entering the pageant, you may pick up an entry form at the Chamber of Commerce, 116 East 2nd Street, Prescott. If you have any questions call Lisa McClure, pageant director, at 887-3399 or 887-2339.

Colby Deshun Gulley was born Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at 5:53 to Gregory and Latosah Gulley of Rosston. Colby was at Medical Park Hospital in Hope and weighed 6 pounds. and 9 ounces. Colby was 20 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Delta and Emma Gulley. Paternal grandparents are Aaron and Lois Gulley.

Brother and sister, Greg and Erica, awaited the new arrival.

The Melody Boys from Hope, the County Line Baptist Group from Nashville and Russ Carlton will be performing at Grandpa's Place on July 17.

It is located on Highway 355 East, three miles from Patmos. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The descendants and relatives of Thomas Samuel and Josephine McCorkle and George Washington and Martha Griffin will meet in joint reunion on July 18 at the Fair Park Coliseum in Hope.

There will be a potluck luncheon followed by an afternoon of visiting with relatives and friends.

There will be a benefit musical program for Sharon Lasker of Gurdon on Saturday, July 17, at 7:00 p.m. at Munn's Chapel Baptist Church in Prescott. Lasker is waiting for a liver transplant. Her medical expenses are enormous. Area choirs, groups and soloists are invited to come support this program. If you cannot attend, it is requested that you send a donation.

Registration is ongoing for the fall classes at the University of Arkansas Community College in Hope. Fall classes begin August 26. Schedules are available through student services.

There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Simple Simon's Pizza on Thursday, July 15, at 10:30. Simple Simon's is located at 104 East Main. The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to the ceremony.

The Chamber of Commerce has for sell some 1999 Chicken and Egg Festival t-shirts. There are a limited number of these left over, which are on sell for $5. You may drop by the office or call 887-2101.

The Arkansas Revenue Office and the Southwest District Managers office will an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, July 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The ribbon-cutting will take place at 10:00. Their new office is located at 147 East 2nd Street North. The Chamber of Commerce would like to invite everyone out to this special day.

Nevada County farmers are selling their produce at the Farmer's Market each week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until sold out at the Prescott City Park.

If you are a Nevada County farmer with produce to sell, contact the Extension office at 887- 2818 or Mary Godwin at 887-2101 for additional information concerning this opportunity to market your goods.

Revival services will be held July 19-23 at Washington Temple No. 2 C.O.G.I.C. in the Oak Grove area near Rosston. The speaker for the week will be evangelist Theresa 'Tessie' Scott from Dallas.

Everyone is invited to attend.

Keith and Pauline Williams of Prescott are proud to announce the birth of their son, Park Wade, on Friday, July 9, 1999, at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia.

Park weighed 7 pounds and 7+ ounces and was 19 inches long.

He was welcomed home by his big sister, Brittney.
