Emmet Students Graduate, Awards Handed OutPublished Wednesday, June 5, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneAn awards and graduation assembly for the Emmet High School was held Thursday, May 23, in the cafetorium. Sandra Faulkner played the processional as the eighth graders marched in and received their diplomas. Those receiving diplomas were Chad Adamson, Jason Arrington, Alanna Block, Rocky Clift, Tiffany Elliott, Regina Faulkner, Michael Ferguson, Jennifer Fore, Trent Hamilton, Semeka Hopson, Paul Johnson, Jennifer Lively, Lisa Martins, Ronald J. Overton, Josh Rothenberge, Tambra Tipton, Brandi White and William White. The invocation was given by Don Lanier. Frank Henson, high school prinicpal, presented perfect attendance awards to Brandon White and Brandi White. Those receiving scholarship awards were Katie Davidson, Brian Davis, Chris Farnell, Jim Faulkner, Amanda Hodges, Victoria Swearengin; Jason Arrington, Tambra Tipton, Joshua Ward, Chandra Banks, Amanda Clift, Richard Wicker, Justin Cox, Robert Harden, Jared Burke and Casey Purtle. Frank Faulkner presented awards as follows: athletic award, Gary Don Faulkner, Chris Parmer and Ricky Block; health award, Robert Harden; driver education awards to Chad Bennett, Renee Faulkner, Patricia Walker, Shontell Nolen, Chandra Banks, Amanda Clift, C.J. Watson, Richard Wicker and Stephen Henson; seventh grade science, Jason Arrington and Jim Faulkner; eighth grade science, Michael Ferguson and Tiffany Elliott; ninth grade health, Lisa Hawthorne, Linda Stephens and Rachael Elliott; junior PE, Marcus Smith and R.J. Overton; and senior PE, Shane Rothenberger and Shontell Nolen. Mike Smith presented math and science awards as follows: algebra, Josh Ward; physics, Robert Harden; geometry, Amanda Clift; eighth grade math, Jason Arrington; biology, Amanda Clift; applied math II, Charles Williams; PT I, Josh Ward; and advanced math, Casey Purtle. Don Lanier presented English and journalism awards as follows: seventh grade English, Amanda Hodges; eighth grade English, Tambra Tipton and Tiffany Eliott; English I, Shawn Goodson; English II, Amanda Clift; English III, Robert Harden; English IV, Carrie Emerson and Casey Purtle; journalism-yearbook award, Cindy Hensley; and journalism award to Eric Spencer, Justin Cox and Robert Harden. Georgia Estes presented awards as follows: seventh grade geography academic, Jim Faulkner and Brian Davis; seventh grade geography attitude and readiness to learn, Rose Martin; eight grade geography, Jason Arrington; ninth grade academics, Linda Stephens; cooking, Melissa Adams; housing, Lisa Hawthorne; child development, Brandi Overton; clothing and textiles, Rachael Elliott; family living skills in grades and creativity in design, Tiffany Elliott. Gary Lawrence presented Spanish and social studies awards as follows: Spanish II, Robert Harden and Carrie Emerson; Spanish I, Amanda Clift and Chad Bennett; civics, Josh Ward; U.S. government, Ryan Pate and Chris Parmer; world history, Robert Harden and Casey Purtle; global studies, Patricia Walker and Jared Burke; and Arkansas history, Tiffany Elliott. Kathy Mitchell presented library awards as follows: library skills class, Tambra Tipton; library aid, Renee Faulkner; and library skills class, Jim Faulkner. Ann Booker presented awards as follows: automated accounting, Casey Purtle and Amanda Clift; OTL, Cindy Hensley; computer technology, Casey Purtle; practical arts, Crystal White; computer technology and keyboarding, Josh Ward.
