Class of 1951 Reunites

The Gurdon High School Class of 1951 held its 45th year reunion at DeGray Lodge on DeGray Lake May 31-June 1. Thirty class members were present.

Registration Friday afternoon was followed by an informal evening of visiting, reminiscing and bingo. Posters, photoghraphs and old Devil Sheets were on display.

Saturday activities included a visit to the old and new high schools, a memorial service and a banquet. The memorial service, directed by Bro. Leo Hornaday, was held at the lodge.

Deceased classmates were Sammy Harwell, Frank Bradshaw, Linda Clark, Bob White, William Wilson, Frankd White and Loyle Vrsery.

Cloris Coon was the master of ceremonies for the banquet Saturday evening. The program, `Devil Sheet Memories,' was presented by several class members.

Awards were presented to Leo Hornaday for traveling the greatest distance (2,200 miles) and Burl Gills won the award for having the youngest child. Sarah Franklin had the youngest grandchild. Cloris Coon and Jean Brown received awards for being involved in the most activities.

The class voted to have a fifty year reunion at DeGray Lodge. The reunion committee was comprised of Beverly Reid Gilbert, Virginia Welch McJohnson and Nancy Clark Summar.
