Two Illinois men are currently guests of Nevada County after being caught in Hot Spring County with goods stolen from the Prescott area.

According to Jim Westmoreland, criminal investigator with the Nevada County Sheriff's Office and Prescott Police Department, Robert B. Scheuler, 18, and Jason Galvan, 18, both of Sterling, Ill., face charges of residential burglary and theft of property in Nevada County.

The pair reportedly burglarized a home on Highway 19 North on June 10. Two handguns, some jewelry and a number of old solid silver coins were taken.

Monday night the two were arrested by the Hot Spring County Sheriff's Office when they were discovered outside a closed business in Bismarck.

HSCSO officers found items stolen from Nevada County and called the NCSO.

Westmoreland and auxiliary deputy Jesse Westbrook went to Malvern Wednesday, June 12 to question the suspects.

Following the interview, the two were arrested and brought back to Prescott.

In addition, the Chevrolet pickup the two were in was found to have been stolen from Sterling as well.

A warrant for Scheuler has been issued from Whiteside County, Ill. in connection with the truck theft. He will be extradited to Illinois after the Arkansas charges have been resolved.

One of the handguns was thrown away in the Arkadelphia city park, but was found by an officer with the Arkadelphia Police Department. With the exception of the coins and a holster, all other items stolen were recovered.

Westmoreland said the two also stated they are responsible for a recent burglary on Highway 4 in Hempstead County.
