Burke Earns ScholarshipPublished Wednesday, June 26, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneAaron Dale Burke of Prescott is the 1996 first place winner of the $10,000 Charles T. Meyer scholarship award. Burke is an honor graduate of Prescott High School. He is the son of Robert and Debbie Burke. This fall he will attend Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, La., and major in computer engineering/computer science. Whitney O'Neal is the 1996 recipient of the Charles T. Meyer Foundation scholarship $4,000 award. Co-salutatorian of her graduating class at Delight High School in Delight, she is the daughter of Jerry and Susie O'Neal. Whitney attends Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. Her major is pediatric nursing. The Charles T. Meyer Foundation awards college scholarships to sons and daughters of eligible employees at Meyer's Bakeries facilities in Hope; Orlando, Fla.; Arizona City, Ariz.; and Wichita, Kansas. Begun in 1965, the original four-year scholarship award was $3,200. Thirty-one years later, with steady increses, the 1996 top award is $10,000 with a runner-up scholarship of $4,000.
