CCIC Still Needs Director

Published Wednesday, June 26, 1996 in the Gurdon Times

An executive director is still being sought by the Clark County Industrial Council.

Brown Hardman, during the CCIC's regular monthly meeting Thursday, June 20, said the interview process will begin Wednesday, June 26.

At this time, there are five serious applications which have been turned in for the position. These candidates will be interviewed and the CCIC board of directors will then select a director to replace Flave Carpenter.

In discussing the access road along Country Club Road to Highway 8, Hardman said the county has already been approved a grant of $1 million for the project.

However, the city and county must come up with 25 percent of this amount for matching funds. This can be done with either cash or in-kind labor.

The Arkadelphia Board of Directors and Clark County Quorum Court have already given their approval for the project.

When completed, the access road will run to a 40-acre site which will be used as a satellite industrial park.

Hardman said Rep. Percy Malone helped the CCIC get the grant monies for this project.

In addition, he said, the CCIC is still looking for about 40 acres for a satellite industrial park in the Gurdon area.

The access road along Country Club Road is located partially in the city limits, with the remainder under the county's domain.

This road, once constructed, will run parallel to Interstate 30.
