Girls' Staters

These four young ladies were selected to attend Girls' State recently from Gurdon High School. They are, from left, Cassidy Allen, Amanda Calley, Wendy Warren and Melinda Wilson. The quartet regaled Gurdon's Rotary Club with their experiences while at Girls' State, talking about the featured speakers, including Lt. Gov. Mike Huckabee, Secretary of State Sharon Priest, Attorney General Winston Bryant and State Sen. Lu Hardin, along with a "cute" 18- year-old guy. They learned about how government works, with all four winning political offices for their parties. They are shown singing the Girls' State song, which was sang every morning shortly after they got up.
