Getting ReadyPublished Wednesday, July 3, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesLori Thomas, reporter, and Leah Lynn, treasurer, set up the Gurdon Future Farmer's of America fireworks booth as they prepare for an onslaught of customers who want to celebrate the Fourth of July in style by firing bottle rockets, firecrackers and otherwise simulating the battles our forefathers fought so we could enjoy the freedoms we have in America today. The money raised from the sale of fireworks is used to help send members of the local FFA to Kansas City, Mo. during the national organization's winter convention. Ownership of all Nevada County Picayune content from the beginning of the newspaper, including predecessors, until May 2001 was contributed by the John and Betty Ragsdale family to the Prescott Community Freenet Association.
