Editor's note: This is the fourth of a 12-part series of a column by Prescott High School football coach Eddie Jackson. The articles will deal with information on the upcoming football season as well as a look back at some facts and stats about Curley Wolf football from the last 25 years. These statistics came from the post-season booklet prepared for each player.

COMING EVENTS: Today, Wednesday, July 3, round two of the summer passing league -- scheduled at Gurdon, but may be moved to Prescott. July 9-11 Southwest Football Camp at Prescott. July 12-13 Senior Camp at the University of Arkansas. July 9, Summer weight workouts begin every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 p.m.. Note: the 7-7 game on July 10 has been moved to Malvern.

COACH'S CORNER: The Wolves competed very hard in the first round of 7-7. Al Johnston threw the ball well. Jeremy Morrow made several key catches while Sam Morrow had interceptions and pass deflections on defense. Forms are due as soon as possible for the annual football camp next week. otball camp at Prescott.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Brian Vanhook, lb/ol, returns as our strongside linebacker with 15 games of experience. He is a leader for the Wolfgang "D" and will be expeced to contribute on the offensive line as well.

'96 SCHEDULE, SCOUT REPORT: The Wolves will return home in week 2 against the much larger Hope Bobcats. The '96 Bobcats are loaded in every area and will be a key factor in the AAA Southwest Conference race. The Wolves will be hard-pressed to stay on the field with such a talented opponent, but the fans should seen a full 48-minute battle with these two rivals from Highway 67.

WORD OF THE WEEK: Dedication -- to commit or devote fully. How will the Wolves' dedication compare with the Bobcats.

THOUGHT OF THE WEEK: You have to be determined to win. You have to know that you can win. Determination can make up for many shortcomings.

Top 5 punt coverage teams, listing year, number of returns, yards and average: 1982 -- 17 returns, 22 yards, 1.3 average; 1983 -- 20 returns, 40 yards, 2.0 average; 1980 -- 16 returns, 49 yards, 3.1 average; 1984 -- 29 returns, 113 yards, 3.9 average; and 1990 -- seven returns, 31 yards, 4.4 average.

Individual -- Passers: 1.) Ronnie Johnson, 1,631 yuards, 20 touchdowns, 1972; 2.) Barrett Yates, 1,357 yards, 21 touchdowns, 1995; 3.) Jeff Morrow, 1,280 yards, 13 touchdowns, 1986; 4.) Jim Haynie, 1,097 yards, 12 touchdowns, 1987; and 5.) Tony Spearman, 1,088 yards, 15 touchdowns, 1973.

HALL OF FAME: Adding this week the academic honor roll GPA top five leaders: 1974 -- 1) Danny Glass; 2) Donald Keith; 3) Clark Morman; 4) Stan Brzeski; and 5) Herbert Adams. 1975 -- 1) Jerry Honea; 2) Ricky McCauley; 3) Arthur Giles; 4) Jorge Nassar; and 5) Kevin Buckley.

1976: All-District -- James Craven, Scott Carmony, Wallace Hopson, Gary McCauley, Randy Loe, Johnny Woodley and Teddis Ingrim. All-State -- Johnny Woodley.

1977: All-District -- Gary McCauley, Tony Nassar, Joe Flemons, John Culp, Danny Gordon, Wallace Hopson, Kenny Wiley, Mike Steed and Steve Baker. All-State -- Gary McCauley and Wallace Hopson.
