In a recent contest, Prescott Elementary School participants were entered in a drawing. Three names were drawn to receive special recognition. The winners were Brandon Morton, Disney World vacation; Josie Niemyer, savings bond; and Nicole Stuart, Disney World vacation.

Kindergarten Good Citizens at Prescott Elementary School were, l-r, first row: Westly Brown, Jasmine Gulley, Blake Boeckman, Tamara Strickland and Lindsay Marcum; second row: Cavin Allison, Monica Reeves, Samantha Stovall, Haley Miller and Sara Purtle.

First grade Good Citizens at PES were, l-r, Zack Otwell, Jeremy Hubbard, Christopher Marcum, Victoria Gleason, Samantha Hopson, Tabatha Langston and Katherine Wilson.

Second grade Good Citizens at PES were, l-r, back row: Jared Dougan, Matthew Haynie, Nikki Lockett and Kailani Glass; front row: Seth Reeder, Casey Carmen, Justin Barlow, Mallory Widden and Ferrando McGough.

PES's third grade Good Citizens were, l-r, back row: Trevor Hunt, LaSonya Hopson and Layne Wilson; front row: Maegan Miller, Aaron Bullock and Paul Haynie. Jon Henry and Robert Haynie, not pictured, were also Good Citizens of this class.

Those in the third grade at PES making Good Citizens were, l-r, Patricia Weaver, Dominique Smith and Jade Hall. Also making it, but not pictured, were Meagan Vandiver, Jason Purifoy, Lauren Gills and LaDonna Mitchell.

First grade outstanding readers at PES were, l-r, Riley Godwin, Andy Thompson and Dakota McVey.

PES's first grade outstanding readers were, l-r, Amanda Smallwood, Caitlin Plunkett and Kayla Ammons.

Perfect attendance for PES's fourth grade were, l-r, Gregory Britton, Shemeka Charles and Nikeeta Fort; first grade was Ben Smith; and second grade was Wade Page.

Third grade Ambassadors at Prescott Elementary School, who helped with the awards assembly were, l-r, back row: J.D. Barnes, Maria, Luther Stuart, LaSonya Hopson and Heather Hawthorne; front row: Katy Wilson, Kaleda Norvell, Rodricas Williams and Cody Brown.

The school, as a special tribute to the late Ed Spencer, who was principal at Prescott Elementary School for several years, established the Ed Spencer Award. This award was to recognize two outstanding fourth grade students. A committee selected two students who demonstrated qualities that were so important to Mr. Spencer: compassion for others, being respectful and dependable, etc. The selected students were Josh Bryan and Megan Vandiver. The recipents received a framed certificate and a savings bond.
