Most Businesses Closed For July 4Published Wednesday, July 3, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneFor the most part, everything in Prescott will be closed Thursday, July 4 for the holiday. As Americans across the nation observe our country's birthday, offices in the Nevada County Courthouse will be closed to allow county employees to spend this time with their families. In fact, the courthouse will also be closed Friday, July 5. According to Nevada County Judge John Barham, garbage normally picked up on Thursday will be picked up Friday. The compaction station at the Nevada County Landfill, along with the landfill itself, will be closed for the Independence Day celebration. Both will be open Friday and Saturday as usual. City offices in Prescott will be closed Thursday, but will open at their regular time Friday morning. There will be no garbage picked up inside the city limits Thursday. However, Thursday's trash routes will be ran Friday. The Bank of Prescott and Prescott Branch Bank of Delight will be closed Thursday. The Bank of Prescott will open at its regular time Friday, but will close at 2:30 p.m. This includes the drive through windows. However, the Branch Bank of Delight will observe its regular hours Friday, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. For those needing some last minute goodies for their 4th celebration party, Taylor's will open at 7:30 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. Smitty's was purchased Monday, July 1 by Andy Riethmaier of Arkadelphia.
