Published Wednesday, July 10, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune

Ben Harwell of Willisville and Wayne McClure of Waldo will exhibit Angus cattle at the 1996 National Junior Angus Show at the American Royal Complex in Kansas City, Missouri, July 16-20, reports Richard Spader, executive vice president of the Amerian Angus Association.

Harwell and McClure, junior members of the American Angus Association with headquarters in St. Joseph, Missouri, is one of 710 young Angus breeders from 34 states who have entered a total of 1,524 head in the show, a record number for this 28 annual event.

Dean Janssen of Bartonville, Ill., and Brian McCulloh of Viroqua, Wisc., will judge the breeding cattle. Randy Daniel of Colbert, Ga., will judge the registered Angus steer show.

The national show is the largest single-breed registered beef cattle show in the world. This year's show will host a beef cook-off, team sales competition, public speaking contest and photography and poster contests in addition to the traditional cattle show.

The National Junior Angus Show is sponsored by the American Angus Association and the National Junior Angus Association (NJAA). The NJAA serves over 8,500 junior Angus members in the United States and Canada.
