Second Round Of Summer League Ends; Prescott Hosts July 17Published Wednesday, July 10, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneGurdon was the site for the second round of play in the summer passing league last Wednesday. Prescott's Brent Jordan set up shop under center against the Rams of Lakeside and completed passes to Justin Jernigan, Brock Jordan, Jeremy Morrow and others. In game two, the Curley Wolves were led by Ben Jones against Malvern's Leopards. Jones hit Scott Graham, Calvin Flemons, Jonathan McKelvey and Andrew Fellows with passes in the outing. Defensively, the Wolves were led by Jamie Williams, the only senior who has competed in both games. Participation in this league, according to Wolf Coach Eddie Jackson, has helped the Wolves so much last year with their defensive coverage skills as well as running pass routes and completions, but for various reasons this summer, some of the candidates in these skill positions haven't been working. This week's game (July 10) will be played in Malvern, with Prescott hosting the fourth round of games on July 17. There are more area schools getting interested in this type of football activity, so plans are being made for Prescott to hold an all-day tournament in early August. More information on this will be published at a later date. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
