Published Wednesday, July 10, 1996 in the Gurdon Times

Eric Allen of Gurdon is one of fifty Arkansas high school students chosen for the 1996 SummerStage AEGIS program, which will take place July 7-17 at Harding University.

He is the son of Versie Allen.

SummerStage is a three-week residential program in the performing arts where participants will work in a professional theatre environment. Students will assist in the design and creation of a collection of theatre pieces, which will be presented to the public on July 26 and 27.

While attending SummerStage, students will participate in workshops on such topics as stage make-up, audition techniques and stage combat. They will also attend five professional theatre performances.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the Arkansas Department of Education, authorized by Act 3, 1st Extraordinary Session, 1983.
