Church To Celebrate Birthday

Red Springs Missionary Baptist Church of Gurdon will be celebrating its 102nd year anniversary on Sunday, July 21, with present pastor Bro. Jeff Tackett.

The services will include special singing, featuring various groups and soloist.

Bro. Keith Rowton, pastor of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Murfeesboro, will be preaching.

Dinner on the grounds will follow the morning worship hour. Services begin at 10:00 a.m.

Red Springs church has had a vital ministry in the Gurdon community since its inception August 26, 1894.

The 15 charter members were John Bear, Susie Bear, Cora Bear, Elias Bear, Emilim Bear, W.C. Wray, Della Wray, G.R. Stroud, H.C. Stroud, M.E. Stroud, M.A. Stroud, Ulysess B. Stroud, J.B. Bear, Ida Bear and Emma Posey.

Bro. D.G. Wells was elected as the first pastor. He served until September of 1897.
