Larue M. GriffinPublished Wednesday, July 24, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneLarue M. Griffin, 92, of Prescott died Saturday, July 20, 1996, at Hillcrest Care Center. Born August 26, 1903, in Rosston, she was a Baptist and the widow of Jesse Griffin. She was also preceded in death by her only grandson, Larry Meeks. She began writing the Redland news in 1925 for the Nevada News until publication ceased and then for the Nevada County Picayune until her nursing home confinement. Her daughter now writes news for the Redland community. She was a member of the Redland Extension Homemakers Club since the 1930's and in 1983 received a 65-year pin for her many years of service. Services were held Tuesday, July 23, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Prescott with Larry Byers and Micah Maulding officiating.
