FELON ARRESTED

A 21-year-old Prescott man was arrested by Westmoreland outside the Nevada County courthouse Wednesday, July 17 on a felony warrant for theft of property.

The warrant had been issued for Jason C. Wood in connection with an incident occurring May 19, 1996, in which a 1993 Mercury Tracer was stolen from a house on Walnut Street in Prescott and later burned. TURNS SELF IN

A 36-year-old Lockseburg man wanted on second degree battery charges since May 11, 1996, turned himself in at the NCSO Wednesday, July 17.

According to Westmoreland, Darrel Gibson was wanted on the outstanding warrant after an altercation in which the victim was struck by his vehicle while Gibson was trying to leave the scene of a family disturbance.

Second degree battery is a class D felony, which carries a prison sentence of up to six years.

Gibson was released on a $2,500 bond.
