New Program To Aid ConservationPublished Wednesday, July 24, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesProducers in Clark County are advised of a newly established Conservation program designed to help solve conservation problems which have been previously served under the ACP program. Environmental Quality Incentive Program commonly known as EQIP was established by the Federal Agricultural Improvement and Reform Act of 1996. $130 million has been provided until lthe final EQIP rule is published or September 30, 1996, which ever is earliest. Beginning July 15 and continuing through July 31, 1996, producers will be able to enroll in a Long Term Agreement for cost share assistance to help solve conservation problems through EQIP. EQIP LTA"s are scheduled from 3 to 5 years to install the practices approved by the Conservation Plan of Operation developed by NRCS. All practices eligible under ACP regulaitons will be eligible for EQIP-LTA Producers interested in EQIP-LTA's must come in the FSA office to make applications before July 31st. Producers wanting to request practices such as SL-1 to be completed in 1997 may sign up after August 1, 1996.
