Allen Performs At AegisPublished Wednesday, July 31, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesEric Allen, a sophomore at Gurdon High School, is one of 49 students who has just completed the 1996 SummerStage program, an AEGIS program in the performing arts that culminates in a musical variety program, which was presented to the public. He is the son of Aaron and Versie Allen. SummerStage students took part in a variety of activities, including master classes, which help them hone skills in their preferred areas. Also during the three weeks the students attended workshops on such areas as stage combat, audition techniques and stage make-up. Rehearsals for the performance took up a great deal of the stud-}ents' time during the second and third weeks of the program. Included in the performance were two one-act plays, Broadway-style musical ensemble numbers, dance, vocal and instrumental numbers. During their stay at SumerStage, participants attended several professional theatre performances, including Beehive at The Rep in Little Rock, Forever Plaid at Playhouse on the Square in Memphis and the Bathhouse Show in Hot Springs. Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the Arkansas Department of Education. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
