English Earns Doctorate

Linda Purtle English, daughter of the late Luther and Hazel Brown of Prescott, completed her Ph.D in counselor education at the University of Arkansas on June 21. She will receive an August diploma and participate in the May, 1997, commencement.

Dr. English served on the faculty of several public schools within the southwest Arkansas area including Mineral Springs, Spring Hill and Gurdon. She also provided professional counseling services for many area families as patrons.

Dr. English has accepted an assistant professor position with Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. Former students, colleagues and friends may contact Dr. English through VSU's department of psychology, counseling and guidance.
