SAU Students HonoredPublished Wednesday, August 7, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneTracie Hughes of Prescott and Michael Clark of Waldo were second place national parliamentary procedures winners at the FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., held recently. Carla Regina Moss of Willisville will receive her bachelor of science degree in psychology with a minor in sociology at Southern Arkansas University on Friday, August 9, at 8:00 p.m. Moss is the daughter of Claude Moss and Ruthie Evans and a 1992 graduate of Nevada High School. Business students of Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia recently earned 14 national awards at the 1996 FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. Eleven SAU business students and the chapter advisor, Dr. Terry Todd from El Dorado, attended the four-day national conference. SAU Phi Beta Lambda placed second in the parliamentary procedures competition. Team members included Traci Hughes from Prescott, Michael Clark from Waldo and three other students from Arkansas schools. Hughes, a freshman business administration major, won first in the state competition held during April. Hughes is currently serving as state parliamentarian. She is the daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Mike Hughes of Prescott. SAU PBL earned a first place award for the chapter's American Enterprise Project report, Ms. Future Business Executive, and annual chapter business report. In other academic competitions, SAU business students won national awards in accounting, business communicaions, parliamentary procedures and community service. In recognition of its outstanding service and active involvement in state and national projects, Southern Arkansas University Phi Beta Lambda was awarded the Gold Seal Chapter Award of Merit and was named a Gold Key Chapter. Phi Beta Lambda is the post-secondary division of Future Business Leaders of America. Membership is open to all students interested in careers in business and business education.
