Local Cheerleader HonoredPublished Wednesday, August 7, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneJessie Ward, the daughter of Ned and Karen Ward, has recently been named by the National Cheerleaders Association as an All-American Cheerleader. Jessie is a junior at Prescott High School. She has been a cheerleader for four years. Other activities she is involved in include: FBLA, Spanish Club, Key Club, National Honor Society, student council, Wolf Trail staff, and she is the reigning Miss PHS. The Prescott High School cheerleaders attended camp at UALR in June. Jessie was nominated by the staffers along with several other PHS cheerleaders during the three-day camp. This nomination qualified them to try out in front of the other squads and scored by the staffers. The final day of competition the staff awarded the All-American certificates to those who scored 23 out of 30 points. Along with this honor of recognition comes the opportunity to perform at the Aloha Bowl in Hawaii, the Citrus Bowl in Florida and participate in parades in Dallas and Chicago. Traci Graham, a junior varisty cheerleader and Raegan Huett, a senior of Prescott were also named to the All-American cheerleading team. Jessie is looking forward to the 1996-97 school year, in hopes the mighty Curley Wolves can repeat their awesome football season of last year.
