School Begins August 19th In PrescottPublished Wednesday, August 7, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Prescott Public Schools will begin Monday, August 19 for students. Classes will start at 8:00 a.m. with a full day. Buses will run regular routes and lunch will be served. Parents should contact Fred Davis, transportaion director, at 887-3221 to determine specific bus stops. Parents are reminded that students in grades 9-12 will not be allowed to carry book bags to school. Registration for students who were not enrolled in Prescott Public Schools at the end of the 1995-96 school year and kindergarten students who did not register in the spring, will be held August 12-14 between the hours of 8:30 a.m.-noon and 1:00-3:00 p.m. To register, new students need to report to the principal's office of the school they attend. Students will need to present a birth certificate and proof of immunizations required by state law. These are: at least three doses of DPT of TD, three doses of polio, one measles and one rubella. If a student is not adequately immunized, enrollment will not be permitted until proof is presented showing the immunization is in process. In addition to the above, high school students need to bring a copy of their transcript from the school they last attended. Students who will be in grades kindergarten through fourth should go to Prescott Elementary School located at 335 School Street. Students in grades fifth through eighth should go to Prescot Middle School located at 1030 East 5th Street North and students in grades 9-12 should report to Prescott High School located at 736 Martin Street.
