Water Course SetPublished Wednesday, August 7, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesManaging process water quality is the focus of the series of one day workshops presented by the Arkansas Department of Pollution Control and Ecology are scheduled here on Friday. The Arkansas Partnership for Technology Transfer, sponsored by Henderson State University and Winrock International, has paid all instructional costs associated with the seminar through a grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology. Metal fabricators from throughout Clark and surrounding counties are expected to participate in the event, which is geared toward the practical needs of manufacturing managers and public operated wastewater treatment plants striving to improve the quality of process water discharged to surface waters. Organizers anticipate that people engaged in metal shaping, metal assembly, metal and organic deposition, and surface preparation and treatment of metal will be in attendance. In addition to teaching about industrial process changes, material substitutions and control technologies to protect public operated treatment works, the workshop will also address best available practices and maximum available control technologies. Registration for the free workshop begins at 8 a.m. Friday, August 9. Hosted by Economic Development Center of Henderson State University, the seminar will be in the Ross Room of Garrison Center, located at McKnight Drive. Walk-ins are welcome. Other seminar sponsors include the Arkansas Environmental Federation; Arkansas Science and Technology Authority; and the Center for Technology Transfer, School of Engineering, University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
