Smith Family Reunion Held

The Albert Smith and Nancy Presson Smith family held its annual carry- in meal and fellowship at the Gurdon City Hall on June 9, with at least 77 persent.

William Albert Smith came to Clark County about 1900-1910 with his family, the Joseph Thomas (Tom) Smith and Della Thresa Marchman Smith and their other two children, Margaret and Jester.

Records show that William Albert Smith was born in Daleville, Dale County, Ala., on September 25, 1880.

Nancy Presson came to Clark County with her family, the Rev. Marcelous George Glover Presson and Bena Collins and their other children, Pearlie, Tom Sadie and Larkin. Dan and Mary were born later.

They came to North Arkansas from Benton County, Tennessee and traveled to Clark County about 1890 in a covered wagon.

Six of the eight Albert Smith children were at the reunion. Susie Jones died March 31, 1993, and George Tom was very ill and could not attend.

Children present were Annie Lee Conant, Alfred and Bennie Smith, Jessie Mae Autry, Mary Easley and Gladys Biard.

Family and friends present were Leola and Arvin Booy, James and Ann Jones, Floy and Joe Kusturin and daughter Barbara, Harold and Betty Jones, Brenda Linzy and son Garrett, Marie Dixon and grandsons Allen and Robby Bursley, Ernest and Annie Lee Conant, Thelma and Ollie Trout, Velma and James Seale, Steve and DeLisa Seale and children April and James, Carolyn and Roger Thomas, Teressa and Gary Scott and son Joshua, Tom Ross Thomas and Cindy Thomas, Jeff and Michell Thomas and three children, Tyler, Trip and Jessie, T.J. and Ruthel Smith, Marcia and Hollis Thaxton, Kenny Wayne and Danny Joe Johnston and Gloria Aucoria, Tular Karr and daughter Mary Helen Kuhn, Alfred and Vivian Smitn, Jessie Mae Autry, Bennie and Fallie Smith, Jean Flores and children Crystal and Bryan Trevino, Mary and Elbert Easley and daughter Marilyn Hobbs, Thelma and Raymond Howard, Roy and Lavell Easley, Brandi and Mitchel Jones, Charles and Mary Easley and son Caleb, Gladys and Jimmy Bird, Roxy and Son Almond, David and Brenda Bird and children Gary, Larry and Amanda, and Randy and Thresa Bird and daughter Shiree.

Jessie Thomas was the youngest at four months old.

Several traveled from Lousiana, Michigan and Texas.

A quilt top and some other things that Nancy Smith had made were on display. Pictures were shared and booklets of family history were given to those who wanted it.
