Counseling Center Is ConsideredPublished Wednesday, August 14, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesRev. Eugene B. Edwards Jr., pastor of Gurdon's First Presbyterian Church, has indicated he is interested in opening a Christian counseling center. His focus will be on pre-adolescent youth and younger adolescents up to about age 16 -- and others in emergency situations, he said in a release to The Gurdon Times. Rev. Edwards has been involved in mental health work for over seven years, including department chaplain for the Gurdon Police Department. He says he has been encouraged by several people that such a center he is considering is needed in Gurdon and Clark County. "If you believe such a center would be beneficial to the community, then please let me know by calling me at 353-4871 or 353-6626," he said. "If there is enough interest, I will then make plans to move toward starting such a center in Gurdon. Any other suggestions will be accepted. "I would really appreciate the help and input of all citizens of Gurdon, both Pro and con. This will also aid me my decision," he concluded.
