Prescott's Cubs Are To Report August 16

Published Wednesday, August 14, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune

Prescott's 1996 Curley Cubs (8th and 9th grades) will report to Coach Jim Haynie and Coach Steve Crow for a squad meeting at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16.

Practice will begin for the junior players when school starts Aug. 19.

Coach Haynie has joined the football staff, coming to Prescott from De Queen. He played for the Wolves in the late 1970's and early '80's.

He coached several years in the East Texas area, and two years with the Leopards. Haynie is filling the position vacated by Coach Brad Clark. Clark did a tremendous job for Prescott for six years.

Although he was a football coach at heart, Clark served the district in seven different coaching capacities. He left the coaching profession for political and financial reasons.

We are fortunate, Coach Eddie Jackson said, to get someone with the experience Haynie brings to the football program.

He will assist with the varsity "O" line, defensive ends and head up the Cubs' teams. He will also be in charge of the Prescott Middle School athletic teams.

The Cubs and Wolves need to welcome Haynie with the enthusiasm and effort they have shown other coaches throughout the years, Jackson said.
