60th Co. Fair PlannedPublished Wednesday, August 14, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe theme for this year's Nevada County Fair will be Diamond in the Rough -- Commemorating 60 years of Progress. The county fair provides each with an opportunity to visit with friends and exhibit what each has been working on for the past year. Fair books are available in the Nevada County Extension office. All items except for the Flower Show, Horse Show and Livestock Show will be accepted on Sunday, September 15, from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m., and on Monday, September 16, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. The Flower Show exhibits will be taken on Tuesday, September 17, from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. The livestock will be entered on Tuesday, September 17, between 12:00 and 5:00 p.m. The Horse Show will take place on Friday, September 20, at 5:00 p.m. The Livestock Show will be at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18. Fair superintendents are Karen Jobe, registration; Judy Duke, art; Nancy Zumwalt, crafts; Lenora McWilliams, clothing and baked goods; Doris Burke, household articles and quilts; Joy Cox, Mary Cox and Lucy Heath, food preservation; Ruby Wicker and Ann Loe, fall gardens and field crops; Cooperative Extension Service, exhibit booths; James Owen and Pat Harwell, livestock; George Glass and Judy Duke, parade; Patsy Ledbetter, Traci Ellis and Sandy Morman, pageants; and Chad Cornelius, talent. Businesses, clubs and organizations wanting to have an exhibit booth must call 887-2818 to pre-register (there are a limited number of spaces available).
