Classes Start Monday

Classes will begin Monday for Prescott, Nevada and Emmet Schools.

Students in Prescott and Nevada will have full days beginning Monday, while Emmet will dismiss at 2:00.

Lunch and breakfast will be served in the cafeterias of all three schools.

Prescott buses will run regular routes. Parents in the Prescott District should contact Fred Davis, transportation director, at 887-3221 to determine specific bus stops.

Prescott Elementary School kindergarten orientation is scheduled for Thursday, August 15, at 4:00 p.m. in the elementary cafetorium. Parents should attend this meeting, according to Howard Austin, PES principal.

Students will meet their teachers at this time. Parents must bring their child's school supplies to school at this time also.

The only students not attending the first week will be those in PES kindergarten. Kindergarten testing will be done during the first week. Each student will have an assigned time to come to school to be tested during the week.

Parents of PES kindergarten students will receive their child's testing schedule at the orientation Thursday. The first full day of school for kindergarten students will be August 26.

An open house and parent orientation for grades one through four is set for Tuesday, August 20, at 6:00 p.m. in the PES cafetorium. All parents are urged to attend this meeting.

Parents are reminded that students in grades 9-12 in the Prescott School District will not be allowed to carry book bags to school.

Prescott High School students will pick up their schedules at the tables at the west end of the campus on the parking lot beginning at 7:45 a.m. on August 19.

The schedules can be picked up in the gym by the students if the weather is bad.

Students will report to first period class when the bell rings at 8:00.

Nevada Schools will be having an open house tomorrow night (Thursday, August 15) at 7:00.

During open house the students will be able to pick up insurance forms, lunch forms, class schedules and meet their teachers.

The first week of school will be full days at Nevada. Buses will run their regular routes.

Emmet classes will also begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. Monday. However, school will be dismissed at 2:00 p.m. for the first week.

Beginning Monday, August 26, students in the Emmet School District will be dismissed at the normal time, 3:00 p.m. daily.

Emmet buess will run regular routes beginning the first week.

Breakfast and lunch will be served. The after-school daycare will be provided beginning on the first day of school at Emmet.

Registration will continue through Thursday, August 15, at the Emmet School for any student who was not enrolled at the end of the 1995-96 school year.

Those who were not previously registered should come to the school Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
