First EDI Course Is Finished By RecruiterPublished Wednesday, August 21, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneChandler Russ, the executive director of the Prescott- Nevada County Economic Development Office, has recently completed year one of the Economic Development Institute (EDI). The EDI is conducted by the University of Oklahoma in Norman. It is a three-year program which provides an advanced spectrum of education for the economic development professional. As its theme, Russ said, Year 1 had "Creating A Marketable Product." This included courses in subject such as "Understanding Change," "Consensus Building," Understanding the Land Development Process," "Strengthening Your Human Resource Base," "Telecommunications, " and "Environmental Issues." In addition, those participating in the course are required to research and write a thesis before graduating. Russ has selected the topic "How Rural America Can Compete and Win in Economic Development," as his area of analysis.
