Annual Retreat Held By COG WomenPublished Wednesday, August 21, 1996 in the Gurdon TimesThe Women of the Church of God held their annual prayer retreat on August 12. The theme for the retreat was "Creating Shalom in the Community." After reading the story of the good Samaritian in Luke, the discussion centered around ways each can each become good Samaritians in our own community. The retreat was hosted by Janet Toland. There were eight members present including Eulah Wilson, Rhonda Spruill, Thelma Mizell, Doris Vance, Vivian Spruill and Shirley Smithpeters. The meeting was dismissed in prayer as individual members prayed for the community and far-reaching areas of the world where Shalom (peace) is desperately needed.
