Deadline For Bricks Nears; Reception SetBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, July 21, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Time is running out for those planning to buy bricks from the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce. The deadline to purchase one of the engraved bricks is Friday, July 30. These are standard sized bricks, measuring 7 5/8 by 3 5/8 by 2 1/4 inches. Lettering on the brick will be three-fourths of an inch with up to three lines of 14 letters possible to be engraved. Mary Godwin, executive director of the Chamber, said the bricks cost $25 each and must be paid for when ordered. Those who would like to purchase a brick in someone else's name can do so and a certificate will be sent to the person it was bought for. Bricks ordered and not paid for by July 30, will be canceled, and absolutely no orders will be taken after this date. The bricks, once all have been ordered and engraved, will be placed in the walkways at the new park/mural area at the corner of West Main and First streets. Godwin said this project may not be completed until the spring of 2000. A retirement reception will be held for Helen Miller, Nevada County Librarian Wednesday, July 28, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Library. The public is encouraged to attend and wish Miller a happy retirement. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
