The articles will deal with information on the upcoming football season as well as a look back at some facts and stats about Curley Wolf football from the last 25 years. These statistics came from the post-season booklet prepared for each player. {COMING EVENTS: Friday, Aug. 30: Wolves at Lakeside, pre-season scrimmage at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 31: Wolves youth camp, day two, 8:45-11:45 a.m.; Monday, Sept. 2, Labor Day #_ Wolves will labor Monday morning in preparing for the Ashdown Panthers.<} {COACH'S CORNER: This edition will wrap-up this series of football notes, stats, etc. I have enjoyed looking back at all the information we have shared with you for 12 weeks, but at the same time we are ready to put all our energies toward the 1996 version of Curley Wolf football.<} {Hopefully, these articles have helped fans remember how rich the football tradition is at Prescott and we hope to add to it this fall.<} {SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Quentin Bonnette is a member of our senior class, but technically is not on the roster until he completes a correspondence course to fulfill his eligibility requirements. He is undertaking a load with current classes, practicing with the team and doing make-up work. If and when he becomes eligible he could contribute for the Wolves on both sides of the ball.<} {'96 SCHEDULE, SCOUT REPORT: Game 10 could be another 7AA showdown game for one of the four play-off spots as the Wolves host the Fordyce Redbugs.<} {Because of deer season on Saturday morning, Fordyce requested to play this game on Thursday night. This could be an advantage for play-off scouting purposes if the Wolves are in the post-season picture.<} {WORD OF THE WEEK: Victory #_ conquest; final and complete defeat of the enemy, a succesful struggle against an opponent, the state of having triumphed; referring to a success that is especially noteworthy, because it is decisive, significant or spectacular.<} {THOUGHT OF THE WEEK: When you taste victory #_ the hard work, the many hurts, the price you paid will all be worth it. Second team, Barrett Yates.<} {DON MUSE RECIPIENTS: 1994, Health Miller: 1995, Stan Koger.<} {SUPPORT STAFF: We have tried to acknowledge all areas that support a high school football program and we purposefully saved the best for last.<} {A football team is only as good as its fans and when you are state champions the same goes for the fans. The Curley Wolves do appreciate our terrific fan support. The display of spirit and enthusiasm as our busses left town last December and the caravan to Little Rock exemplifed what high school football should be all about.<} {We as coaches fully realize their is another group in every town, but the acknowledgement of critics needs to be in another chapter.<} Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
