Youths Attend CAP Program In Ferndale

{Youths from Nevada County were recent delegaes to a three-day citizenship workshop, called CAPS, that was held at the C.S. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center near Little Rock.<} {Attending from Nevada County were Chris and Samantha Clarke.<} {The workshop was sponsored by the Cooperative Extension Service, University of Arkansas. Seventy-five 4-H'ers from across Arkansas attended the workshop. 4-H is the youth development section of Extension. All the activities are open to all youth, ages 5-19, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, or disability.<} {CAPS, which stands for Citizen Action Produces Strength, teaches delegates citizenship skills. Highlights of the workshop included a talk by U.S. Senator Dale Bumpers, D-Ark., and a tour of the state capitol. They also talked to a representative of the governor s office and developed a plan for a project in their county.<}
