Youth Football Camp Ends

The third annual Wolves youth football camp completed their three days of activities this past Saturday morning.

The format was changed this year and the attendance almost tripled. There were 43 young football prospects working hard each Saturday from 9:00, 11:45 a.m. on skills of offense, defense and kicking, according to Eddie Jackson, who conducted the camp.

In addition to being introduced to various aspects of the game of football, these young men got a chance to work with each football coach and several of the varsity players.

Curley Wolves assisting with the campers were Jamie Williams, Rashad Johnson, Brian Vanhook, Carlos Vanhook, Sam Marlow and Cedric Flemons.

After three days of testing on various skills, certificate awards were presented to the young men listed below.

Punt hang time: first place, Adam Beaver; second place, Ryan Burdue; third place, Toby Bullock; fourth place, Jason Butler; and fifth place, Katlise Lidge.

Sit-ups: first place, Aaron Bullock; second place, Brandon Reese; third place, Craig Hickman; fourth place, Justin Hillery; and fifth place, Toby Bullock.

Passing distance: first place, Matt Yates; second place, Chris Glass; third place, Toby Bullock; fourth place, Jason Butler; and fifth place, R.J. Vanhook.

Bench jump: first place, Chris Glass; second place, Chad Burton; third place, Matt Yates; fourth place, Brandon Tullis; and fifth place, Brandon Reese and Jason Butler.

Punting average: first place, Matthew Stone; second place, Zack Martin; third place, Brad Glass; and fourth place, Brandon Reese.

Kick-off distance: first place, Chris Glass; second place, Matt Yates; third place, Chris Hunt; fourth place, Matt Miller; and fifth place, R.J. Vanhook.

The camp participants received t-shirts, participation certificates and will be guests at the Prescott-De Queen game in October.
