A Rundown Of PHS Future OpponentsPublished Wednesday, September 11, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneJust as last year, the Prescott Curley Wolves began the football season with a win Friday night. The score was 27-12 against Ashdown, as the Wolves have now won 14 straight. It could have been 42-0, or even greater, if several mistakes by the Wolves had not been made. While the win was not easy, the Class AA Wolves controlled the ballgame against the Class AAA team. Last year the first game was against Harmony Grove, which Prescott won, a tie against the Hope Bobcats was next, then 13 straight victories as the Wolves won the 7AA Conference, and, eventually, the state Class AA title. Ashdown is in the same conference with Hope, and guess who's coming to dinner Friday night. Since the Bodcats put the only blemish on last year's record, look for them to show no mercy Friday night. They don't anyway, and you can bet they won't this time. Everybody in the district and out are always after the Wolves. Also, look for a much stronger team from the Bobcats this year. They'll come into the PHS Stadium ready for another victory -- last week they defeated Warren, 26-14. Prescott is also stronger, or will be. Playing non-conference games gives coach Eddie Jackson time to work out the kinks of the Curley Wolves. Usually he's prepared for the conference season. Speaking of conference, there are five unbeaten teams in the 7AA Conference after one week of play. Bismarck, Fouke, Fountain Lake and Nashville, in addition to Prescott, all won Friday night. This is how Prescott's foes did last week:
