Womble Set To Sing In Houston Astrodome

Published Wednesday, September 11, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayune

Monte Womble, along with three other members of the Brazosport Center Stage's production of the play, Forever Plaid, was to have performed Tuesday night at the Houston Astrodome in Houston, Texas, singing the national anthem.

Womble is the son of Bill and Patsy Womble of Prescott.

The other three principals, besides Womble, are Jeff Harrington, Sean Speed, Dennis Ulrich.

Soon after Forever Plaid was cast, Center Stage's board member, Matt Davis contacted Astrodome management to offer the Plaidsmen's voices to sing The Star-Spangled Banner.

The foursome recorded an original arrangement of the national anthem and sent it in as an audition, which was successful.
