Curley Wolves Score In All Four Quarters Over 7AAA Panthers (cont)Published Wednesday, September 11, 1996 in the Nevada County Picayunetraining program for the following year. This is done after the Wolves have a commanding lead and are in complete control of the game. Thus, every player got to see action Friday night. It was during this `resting period' for most of the regulars that Ashdown scored again. They began the drive on their 30 and had a first down at their 48 in three plays. On second and 10 Harless connected with Delajon Trotter for the last touchdown of the game. Instead of going for the extra point, the Panthers opted for two points. The pass play was broken up for the score to remain 27-12 with 3:20 left in the game. Prescott was in full control. The Ashdown defense was just depleted. Beginning the next drive on their own 25, they moved the ball 52 yards on the ground before time ran out. Total statistics were almost even for the two teams. The Wolves finished with 13 first downs to Ashdown's 11 on the hot, humid night. Prescott rushed for 200 yards and passed for 42 more for a total of 242 yards. Ashdown rushed for 69 and passed for another 166 for a total of 235 yards. Johnston was Prescott's leading rusher with 91 yards. Vanhook followed with 49 yards. Dunn was Ashdown's leading rusher with 37 yards. Prescott attempted eight passes, completing four. Harless attempted 16 passes, completing nine. The Wolves were penalized six times for 43 yards. Ashdown had three penalties for 25 yards. This week the Prescott Curley Wolves will host another Class AAA team, the Hope Bobcats. Game time is 7:30 Friday night. It's still not too late to buy season tickets, or to join the Athletic Booster Club. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
