New Events at Waldo FestivalPublished Wednesday, September 18, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneA new feature of the Waldo Harvest Festival this year will be events for all ages from intants to adults. Starting at 9 a.m. in front of Boatmans Bank will be three-on-three basketball for ages 15 and up. There will be a men's and women's category. The entry fee for each team will be $20, with the winning team in each category taking all of the money at the end. Get your teams together and get ready for lots of fun. Be there early to register and pay your fee. Anyone under the age of 18 must have parents signature on the entry form. Registration deadline is 9 a.m. for more information, call Annie Witcher 693-2217 after 5 p.m. At 10 a.m., a three-legged race will be held for three age groups: first through third grade, fourth through sixth grade and seventh through ninth grade. Prizes will be given to the winners in each group. Select your partner and start practicing. An entry form is required with parents signature. Get the forms from city hall or from Connie Orsak at Waldo School. At 11:00 a.m. a children's parade will be held for infant through kindergarten age. Moms and dads, decorate your child's tricycle or wagon and let them be seen by the crowd. For more information call Charlotte Gibson, 693-5508. At 10 a.m. a special event will be held. A pie contest! Make up your special pie recipes and have them at Boatmans Bank at 10:00 a.m. for judging. After the judging, pieces of the pies will be sold. Judging will begin at 10:00 a.m. by out of town judges. So bring your quilts (even if it is one of your grandmothers) and let everyone enjoy this beautiful handwork. Other activities for the day will include arts and crafts, lots of food booths, entertainment of all kinds, a pottery making display and a political rally at noon. Candidates will speak for five minutes each and then will be available for questions.
