Johnnie ZackeryPublished Wednesday, September 25, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayuneJohnnie Zackery, 88, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Rosston, died September 4, 1996, at an Omaha hospital. Born March 16, 1908, in Rosston, she was the daughter of Van Phillips and Roxie Godbolt. She was a former member of Mt. Vernon A.M.E. Church in Rosston, where she served as stewardess and missionary. She was also a member of Chapter 97 OES PHA in Mitchell. After moving to Omaha in 1960 she joined the Bethel A.M.E. Church, where she continued to serve as a missionary and church stewardess. She was a member of the Wesley House. Survivors include four daughters, Irene Jackson of Muskegon, Mich., Margie Sigular and Joanne Johnson, both of New Haven, Conn., and Roxie Atkins of Oakland, Calif.; six sons, James D., Euradell and Tilman Zackery, all of Omaha, Melvin E., Webster Jr., and Larry D. Zackery, both of New Haven, Conn.; one brother, Talmadge Phillips of Columbus, Ohio; 33 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren. Services were held September 10 at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Omaha with Rev. H. Charles Farris officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Omaha under the direction of Myers Funeral Home of Omaha.
