Medical Grant Garnered By CityPublished Wednesday, September 25, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayunePrescott Mayor Howard Taylor has received a matching grant for $14,477 for the purchase of medical equipment. This equipment will be used by local doctors, nursing centers and the Nevada County Ambulance Service. According to a release from the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development Office, Liz Rainwater and Pam Christie, with the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH), Office of Rural Health, awarded the grant to Taylor at a press conference Tuesday morning at the Beverly Health and Rehab Center, formerly the Prescott Nursing Center. The money is provided through the Rural Health Matching Grant Program and is administered by the ADH. The grant was submitted by the city and prepared by the NCEDO. This grant will provide a Life PAC 10 Cardiac Monitor/Defibrillator, two electrocardiograms (EKGs) and a Stryker hydraulic lift. This equipment will be owned by the city, but used by area doctors and paramedics to help provide quality health care to residents of the region. "This funding is great news for our community, especially in the wake of the hospital closure," Taylor said. "This equipment will help area doctors and paramedics be more efficient and effective in their diagnoses of area citizens. This does not solve our immediate need of an emergency health care provider in Prescott, but this is another step in the right direction."
